Herbal Decor

With spring in full swing we couldn’t resist getting in the spirit and thinking about all of the beautiful lush florals that we’ll be seeing in the coming months.

Using herbs in just about every type of wedding floral, from the boutonniere, to the bouquet, to the tabletop decor has become a ‘growing’ trend and from the images below, you can see why:

On Trend: Butterscotch

The Knot Magazine and theknot.com are full of on trend design inspiration and we especially love their recent Color Report that included one of 2013’s up and coming palette pleasers: Butterscotch.

This color pairs well with candlelight and metallics and offers versatility because it can be used in so many different ways without feeling overwhelming including in the florals, lighting, as well as the bridal accessories.

A true butterscotch tone also pairs well with some of the other  2013 trendsetting colors including blush, mint and emerald. It can create a rich neutral accent that offsets pastels or more saturated jewel tones, and both are equally beautiful.

Modern Versailles by Grand Engagements

Gloria McCune of Grand Engagements recently used Vibiana as the venue for her ‘Modern Versailles’ Style Unveiled Paper Styled Shoot Challenge. We absolutely loved the bold floral runner by Bloom Box and customized stationary by Posh Paperie.

For the shoot, we asked our head mixologist Julian Cox to create a specialty cocktail that fit in with the modern French theme. Below is his twist on a classic cocktail, the Champs Elysees.

Add together:

  • ¾ lemon juice
  • ½ simple syrup
  • ½ green Chartreuse
  • Angostura bitters
  • 1 ½ Cognac

Pour together in a cocktail shaker with ice, shake, strain, & serve.

And voila! You have yourself a sophisticated and tasty cocktail.

I Do! An Event for the Stylish Bride

The Vibiana Team just had the pleasure of participating in the I Do! Bridal show at the Langham Hotel in Pasadena.

We were completely blown away by the creativity displayed by our fellow wedding industry friends including, Butterfly Floral & Event Design, Copper Willow Paper Studio, Duke Photography, Fancy That!, Fantasy Frosting, Found Vintage Rentals, Rrivre Works, & Wisteria Lane, to name a few.

The Vibiana booth included beautiful honey-colored pieces from Rrivre Works’ Santa Ynez collection that displayed our wedding slideshow by Next Exit Photography and delicious cupcakes by our in-house pastry chef, Mariah Swan.

The floral display for our booth was designed by Inna of Butterfly Floral and included striking peach parrot tulips, pink English roses, and darling paper whites with orange-yellow centers.

We are still smitten with all of the inspiring details we encountered last Sunday and cannot wait to see what our brides come up with in 2013!

A big thank you to all who came to visit our booth and those who  assisted us in pulling it all together!

City Lights: A Downtown Chic Reception

2012 was a year of incredible events at Vibiana, and Anna & Limzer’s gorgeous city themed summer wedding on August 10th was no exception.

They say they’re both extroverts whose relationship was defined by moving, first apart then together again. Each spent 2008 in different cities, moved together in 2010, and moved again in 2012, back to Los Angeles – hence the wedding date 08/10/12.

We talked to Anna about her special day and some of her favorite wedding memories at Vibiana. She also shared with us some details about their relationship such as how they met, and where Limzer proposed:

“Limzer and I have crossed paths throughout our lives, he is my brother’s friend. He remembers meeting me in front of my mom’s house in 1998. I remember meeting at a holiday party in 2006.” After several years of dating and courtship, Limzer proposed to Anna on 11/11/11 at the Peninsula Hotel.

Anna reflected on the more memorable moments of her wedding day:

“[I remember] looking to the dance floor and seeing all our family and friends dancing and having fun…our photographer pulling us outside for a beautiful evening shot and having some alone time together…[our first dance] was a rhumba that turned into a cha cha to “Save the Last Dance…walking into [the] reception and seeing everyone enjoying themselves and officially being announced as Mr. and Mrs.”

To future brides, Anna says, “Enjoy the whole process. It can get stressful but remember it should be a fun process and at the end of the day it’s about the two of you.”

Thanks to Anna and Limzer, who handled their own plans and wedding day with grace, charm, and of course, love.

Their favorite vendors: Kelsey Events (coordinator); Evoke Photography (photographer); Parasol of Design (floral decorations); Kitchen 12000 (linens & rentals); Limzer Lagrimas (invitations, menus, graphic designs).
